Reducing Cancer Health Disparities; Treatments and Research for All of Us
Cancer health disparities arise when differences exist in access to or availability of health care within a subset of the population. NCI is taking important steps to address, mitigate and help eliminate cancer health disparities:
NCI Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD) creates educational opportunities, research and training partnerships to address cancer health disparities.
NCI Cancer Health Disparities Interest Group promotes exchange between scientists interested in disparities research.
NCI-funded efforts such as the Community Networks Program Centers (CNPC) are national partnerships of organizations that work to identify needs affecting cancer health disparities, prevention and control in local communities.
The Breast Cancer Genetic Study in African-Ancestry Populations initiative and the National Latino Cancer Research Network are working to bridge gaps in cancer health disparities.
