Biorepository Coordinating Committee (BCC)

Mission & Goals

Based on the findings of an NCI analysis of NCI-supported biorepositories, the National Cancer Advisory Board (NCAB) approved in November 2004 the formation of a trans-NCI committee, called the NCI Biorepository Coordinating Committee (BCC).

The mission of the BCC is to coordinate efforts to improve the availability and quality of human specimens needed for research supported by the NCI throughout all its programs. The BCC has been charged with recommending harmonized policies and procedures for NCI-supported biorepositories that will enable the highest quality research while ensuring the ethical integrity of the process and fostering public trust.

The BCC includes senior program managers who oversee biorepository-related programs across NCI intramural and extramural divisions.
